We're up again, and working on the problem. Things aren't 100%, but we hope to get them that way this morning.
Basically, we're dealing with one of those situations where something small went wrong and unnoticed, slowly getting worse, causing other problems as it went, and being compounded by a small mistake on our part and when those problems came to our attention the attempt to fix them brought on worse even as we thought we'd fixed it.
Tech has been unraveling the Gordian knot for a while. I suspect that we (i.e. the smart members of this team, not me) will fix this fully by lunch.
We'll advise if not.

Intermittent Outage
TT is down. We thought it was just a minor glitch but it's not.
Our tech has been on it, but we've been out and incommunicado. Apologies on that.
We'll get on it tomorrow first thing.
It figures we'd have this problem when we tried to sneak a Saturday away from the computer and work.
I'll advise as soon as we know more.

Again--Huge Server Load
We've been getting record usage during this market move. The site is staggering under the load.
This is after lots of tweaking and improvements in performance. If this traffic holds past the current crisis we will be upgrading our servers, you may rest assured.
For now, don't use search during market hours and don't compulsively refresh.
If you must search, use google, and search for the poster or any key words, and Traders-talk.com
Thanks,
Mark

Site Is Staggering
...under the serious traffic load. We've turned search off and as soon as cached searches age off, we should get some speed back. Right now we are unable to connect but this ought to ameliorate fairly quickly. Give us a bit of time and we should be running again.
Do not try searches during busy market hours. Don't compulsively refresh, if you can help it.
Thanks,
Mark

New Problem
The site is bogging again and it shouldn't be at this hour. We've got tech looking into it. We'll also try a few tweaks right away to improve functionality.
Stay tuned.

Men At Work
Folks, we may have found the speed problem. We're going to be doing some major reconfiguration work this weekend in order to better diagnose it and to try to dramatically improve performance.
So, beginning late afternoon [GMT] July 4th and into the weekend we'll be tearing things apart and putting them back together. The site will be up, but there will sporadically be tons of error messages.
Don't panic. We should be fully functional and hopefully fast by Monday and we should still have periodic functionality all weekend.
If there's a problem, we'll post updates here.

We're UP
We have good functionality, but we're still fixing problems and there may yet be vulnerabilities that we have to patch or files that we need to fix.
Thank you Dave and the staff!

Getting Closer
We're still trying to upload new files to replace the corrupted ones.
We're still trying to figure out the proper files.
Sorry for the delay.

Still Wonky
I don't know how much damage was done, but we're fixing damaged files now. Functionality should be spotty for a bit. You can read some stuff, but posting isn't working everywhere and not all areas are accessible.

Market Discussion
I have know idea when it'll be safe to open the server back up, so in the mean time, I thought I'd share this:
The Amateurs are way Beared up. About 2:1 Bears to Bulls.
The problem is, there are some speculators who are bulled-up.
What this means is that we have the minimum criteria for a nice rally once we turn, but we also lack the necessary ingredients to probe aggressively for a low.
Any thoughts?

Serious Attack on Our Server
We have been dealing with a hack of our mail server over the past couple days.
When we got into the issue, another major attack was launched on our servers. We are attempting to recover, but there may have been some data loss. Our tech support and host are working on this and we'll provide updates as we get them.
All the speed issues we've been suffering recently have been a result of this hack or the attempt at such.

Arbman's Chart

If it breaks the small channel on Monday, I am also going to conclude that the retracement is over. I am thinking down on Monday a bit and one more high on Tuesday and then down eventually...
Market Thoughts
I'm looking for "C" down next week and then a launch higher. That's my FF.
Feel free to comment. It's not TT but it's a Fearless Forecaster Fix anyway.

Sentiment
The Server is still down, so I thought I'd make room for a little discussion here.
Our board sentiment was pretty Bearish but TheStreet.com has 56% Bulls, which could be a problem.

Explosion!
From Our Host in Houston:
This evening at 4:55pm CDT in our H1 data center, electrical gear shorted, creating an explosion and fire that knocked down three walls surrounding our electrical equipment room. Thankfully, no one was injured. In addition, no customer servers were damaged or lost.
We have just been allowed into the building to physically inspect the damage. Early indications are that the short was in a high-volume wire conduit. We were not allowed to activate our backup generator plan based on instructions from the fire department.
This is a significant outage, impacting approximately 9,000 servers and 7,500 customers. All members of our support team are in, and all vendors who supply us with data center equipment are on site. Our initial assessment, although early, points to being able to have some service restored by mid-afternoon on Sunday. Rest assured we are working around the clock.
We are in the process of communicating with all affected customers. we are planning to post updates every hour via our forum and in our customer portal. Our interactive voice response system is updating customers as well.
There is no impact in any of our other five data centers.
OK, then!
I don't think we can be very angry at them.
Frankly, I'm just very glad that no one was hurt and that we'll be back up and whole soon.
We'll advise as we learn more. If you need us, try myoung at equityguardiangroup dot com

Major Server Problems
We've been on vacation and, as such, it was guaranteed that we'd have a major server problem.
We are. It's not just the site it's our business site and it appears that other unrelated sites are down.
I had thought that it was just maintenance last night, but it was clearly something bigger.
We're up and on it now. We'll advise.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Market Outlook
Friday's strong close is a clear sign that the game has changed (in case it wasn't clear to you earlier). If we were still in Bear mode, they've have sold it down, just to reduce risk.
That they didn't indicates that money is flowing back into stocks.
It's important to remember that a ton of money has been sitting on the sidelines and money market funds have huge assets in them. More is coming too. Meanwhile, MM funds are paying less and less.
That's a prescription for a bigger rally than many assume.
I'd not be surprised by some selling, but the trend is now up, though within a technical Bear. We'd do well to give the Bullish case a bit of respect here.

Site's Down
We're on it. We were having sporadic problems on Friday, but nothing cataclysmic.
This morning we're down. As soon as tech can be run down we'll see if we can't fix it. I won't try until I've had a second cup of coffee.

Traders-Talk is Back Up!
I'm pretty sure that UK Tech had to restore the site. We may have lost some stuff. Still, up is good.
If we have a problem in the future, this will be your place to go.

Tired Market
As of lunchtime on 1/29, it sure looks like the market is tired. There's still strength, so Bears want to be careful, but I'm not liking the way the Russell is under-performing. Breadth is less than robust, too.
I think that perhaps there is some fear that the Fed is going to disappoint tomorrow.
Since the market is not out of the woods as yet, we want to be pretty careful.

No Progress Yet
We don't yet have any forward progress yet on the server. We are working on it, but it may be a while. I'm going to post here on the market and open up to comments in the meantime for those who are in need of their community.
I know I'm missing it.
We will advise as we know more.

A Backup for Traders-Talk
Occasionally, the site goes down, and when it does, it can be frustrating. I've set this blog up so that you can at site status get updates as well as communicate while we fix whatever might ail us. Think of this as a "backup" TTHQ.
